How to reach Siena

BY PLANE

The nearest airports to Siena are Florence, Pisa and Rome Fiumicino.

FLORENCE Airport “Amerigo Vespucci” (68 km)
From “Amerigo Vespucci” Airport connections to “Santa Maria Novella” (SMN) railway station :

  • service TRAMVIA: Line T2 every day from 05:00 to 00:30, every 10 minutes;
  • bus service Sita/Ataf Vola in bus: approx. 20 minutes;
  • taxi: downtown Florence can be reached in approx. 15/20 minutes.

From the bus station, located just outside “Santa Maria Novella” railway station, to reach Siena the following connections are available::

The long-distance bus terminals are located in the center of Siena at “La Lizza” and opposite the train station in Piazzale Rosselli. 


BY CAR

Coming from the NORTH(Turin / Milan / Venice / Bologna / Florence / Florence Airport):
take the A1 motorway “Milan-Rome-Naples” towards Roma, take the exit “Firenze Impruneta” (formerly known as “Florence Certosa”); then take the motorway RA3 Florence-Siena (56 km).
Coming from SOUTH (Naples / Rome / Fiumicino Airport / Orvieto):
take the A1 motorway “Milan-Rome-Naples” towards Florence, exit at “Valdichiana”; then take the highroad Bettolle-Siena SS715 (59 km).
Coming from SOUTH (Grosseto / Maremma coast / Argentario):
along the highway Grosseto-Siena (SS223) take the Siena exit.
Coming from EAST (Perugia / Umbria):
along the highway Perugia-Bettolle towards Siena, near the exit A1 Valdichiana, continue on the highroad Bettolle-Siena SS715 (59 km).
Coming from Pisa / Pisa Airport (135 km):
along the motorway S.G.C. Livorno-Firenze towards Firenze, take exit Ginestra Fiorentina and head towards Cerbaia and San Casciano Val di Pesa, than take the highroad Firenze-Siena towards Siena.
