In conversation with Andrew Harnik

Photographer Andrew Harnik takes audiences behind the scenes of American political power through a visual journey shaped by years spent documenting the White House, presidential campaigns, international summits, and official government events. Widely recognized for his coverage of contemporary U.S. politics, Harnik has closely documented presidents, world leaders, and defining moments of recent history, transforming political photography into a powerful tool for capturing tension, leadership, diplomacy, and the human dimension of power.

From U.S. presidential elections to high-level meetings between heads of state, from the corridors of the White House to major international events, his work offers a rare perspective on what happens beyond the official images. Through photographs captured in high-pressure environments and often within fractions of a second, Harnik creates a visual narrative that combines journalistic rigor, storytelling sensitivity, and a remarkable ability to reveal emotion and detail in places where decisions shaping the world are made.

During this talk, Andrew Harnik will share stories, behind-the-scenes experiences, and reflections gathered while documenting some of the most significant political moments of recent years, exploring both the technical and emotional challenges of working in close proximity to power and the vital role of photography in preserving contemporary history and collective memory.
