A selection of the world’s most prominent photographers will offer a distinctive opportunity to delve into their most notable retrospectives and their latest reportages. Concurrently, acclaimed photojournalists will participate in dialogues concerning pivotal subjects like the repercussions of armed conflicts and warfare, alongside the significance of investigative journalism. We will also present stories and images featured in some of the globe’s premier publications, encompassing National Geographic, The Washington Post, Stern, Geo, and The New York Times.

”HUMUS” – WHERE TALENT GERMINATES

Screening of the 2nd episode from the “Humus – Where Talent Germinates” docuseries, featuring an exclusive interview with acclaimed photographer Steve Winter, renowned for his work with National Geographic and his wildlife photography. The interview provides a unique opportunity to discover Steve Winter’s journey—first as a person, then as a photographer—exploring the roots and motivations behind his success in capturing the beauty and urgency of the natural world.

A live interview with Steve Winter will follow, conducted by Master of Ceremonies Kathy Moran, former Deputy Director of Photography at National Geographic and photo editor of many of Winter’s works.

“Photography at the Heart of Crisis”: Join a thought-provoking conversation with some of the Nominees for SIPA 2025, moderated by Sarah Leen, on the power and challenges of photojournalism in times of crisis.

What does it take to document conflict and human suffering through the lens of a camera? This conversation will delve into the ethical challenges, the safety risks, and the emotional toll on photographers who work in the most dangerous environments. Hear personal stories and insights from seasoned professionals as they share their experiences capturing pivotal moments in global crises.

MUHAMMED MUHEISEN

“From Pulitzers to Humanitarian: Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist and National Geographic photographer and Explorer, Muhammed Muheisen has spent over two decades documenting global events, from Nelson Mandela’s funeral to war zones in Syria and Iraq, and refugee camps across Europe and the Middle East. Born in Jerusalem, he grew up amid conflict, shaping his passion for storytelling through photography. Over time, his focus shifted from destruction to resilience, capturing both hardship and the strength of those affected by war and poverty.

In 2015 he founded the Everyday Refugees Foundation, a Dutch non-profit using photography to raise awareness and mobilize aid, helping thousands worldwide. His talk explores the power of photography to change narratives.
